December 2023 through March 2024 proved to be about as duckless as all other winters! I got a few shots but nothing memorable of the slick little swimming/flying creatures. But I did some exploring over the winter and found some new spots for shooting next year.
My favorite shot of the season turned out to be this little gem. Shot on a rainy, overcast day, I accidentally shot it even more overexposed than I thought. Because of the rain, I was covering sliding my camera under my rainjacket when I was walking and when I saw this little wren land on a branch and start singing, I brought my camera out and accidentally spun the exposure compensation button a few notches. I could see how bright the shot was. When shooting up against an overcast and white sky, I always bring up the exposure a bit form what the camera's meter suggests, but this was now about 3-stops over what it was suggesting. But I grabbed a few shots and really liked how it turned out.
